Protect Our Waterway Access

There is a new proposed rule that the Oregon State Marine Board is considering that will limit wakesurfing on the Upper Willamette. If this rule goes into effect wakesurfers on the Upper will be limited to two 1.5 mile long surf zones. All other areas of the Newberg Pool (From the narrows to Rogers Landing). This coming Monday the Marine Board is going to be listening to public testimony from 9am - 4pm at their office in Salem. Please come voice you opposition to help protect your waterway access. You must do your part by driving down to Salem and publicly letting your voice be heard. This new rule will cause a bottle neck effect for wakesurfers making it very dangerous to participate in this sport on the Upper Willamette. Our right to recreate on the river is being threatened so we must do our part to make sure this rule making stops here! If you are unable to make it down to Salem on Monday you can email your testimony to: jennifer.cooper@oregon.gov Please share this with anyone you know that spends any amount of time enjoying towed water sports in Oregon. Also, PLEASE remember when you are out there wakesurfing, be courteous of others, keep your music volume to a respectful level, stay 200ft away from the shore and docks and please do not wakesurf in congested areas where many homes/docks are present.
