Which Type of Anchor is BEST for Wake Boats?

If you own a wake boat, choosing the best anchor for wake boats can make or break your day on the water. For sandbars, currents, and crowded lakes, a box anchor is one of the most reliable options available.

Let us explain why the box anchor takes the win over all other options:

The Seachoice Fold and Hold Anchor is easy to store and most importantly, holds every time you throw it over board. The eight angled flukes deliver maximum holding power on virtually any surface. Whether the river or lake bottom is mud, rock, sand, or weeds, the Fold and Hold anchor buries its flukes deep to keep you perfectly positioned for a tie-up, afternoon swim sesh, or sandbar hangout. We often recommend the Large Box Anchor for wake boats, over some of the smaller sizes offered, as a fiberglass wake boat can weigh anywhere between 4,000 to 8,000 lbs (dry weight). We also want to note that added weight from gear and guests impacts the size of anchor you should choose.

What sets the box anchor apart from other anchors?

Box anchors are collapsible meaning they store easily. The box anchor comes with an anchor arm, thus eliminating the need for an anchor chain. It is designed so the unit lays down on its face when it reaches the ground. Each side of the anchor has 4 flukes to dig into the bottom, so you can count on a secure hold from either side, every time. With high winds, river currents and increased boat traffic in certain areas, any boat anchor will experience shifts in position. The box anchor flips from one side to the other during these shifts, with absolutely no lapse in your boat's security. Due to the box anchor laying flat, your boat will be held at approximately a 45 degree angle. When you’re ready to head home, simply pull the boat over the top of the anchor to relieve the line tension and pull it straight up with ease!

The Seachoice Fold and Hold Anchor comes in three sizes:

Small - 13lbs / Galvanized (good for personal watercrafts)

Medium - 19lbs / Galvanized (good for boats 18-30ft)

Large - 25lbs / Galvanized (good for boats up to 40ft)

While we realize an anchor isn’t the most exciting or glamorous of accessories to add to your wake boat, the anchor you choose can make or break a day on the water. A high quality, trustworthy anchor is what we recommend, and a box anchor is just that!
